(2 of 3) Submitting a PIN for authentication needs to respond with status too.

Until now, the pin command also sent no response back to client, so fix this. 
The patch also includes a basic clean-up of all the pin-related code and
beautifying some of the other code and silencing a couple of compiler warnings.
