Comment(by zecke):

 The negative impact might be to reset the screensaver before we actually
 go to suspend (in the case that system("apm -s") is not waiting until it
 suspended. So a good test would be to suspend the device, leave it
 suspended for ~2 minutes (bigger than the screen saver interval) and then
 send a message again.
