Regarding the repeated requests for google maps on the device:
YES IT IS POSSIBLE. YOU DO NOT WANT IT.
According to the terms, you aren't allowed to cache the data for further use
later. This means that you have to download the images over GPRS every time
you pass through an area. These images are NOT VECTOR IMAGES, meaning they
are large files, and will be expensive and probably too slow if downloaded
via GPRS. Unless you're on an unlimited data plan, google maps is not for
you. If you are, it will not be hard to build a webpage that will provide
the functionality you want using their API.
