Hardware question

Does anyone know if the handset available now will be the same one available in Oct for retail release? I really want to play with the neo now but I'd hate buy a new one in Oct because of a hardware improvement. I say play because I haven't done anything with linux since I got SUSE to run on my new PPC Mac in 1998 but openmoko is extremely inspiring-
