Also, one possible solution to this would be to run an x server which outputed to a QWS window. I seem to remember something like this being developed for OpenZaurus years ago. I would have thought something like Xvfb or Xephyr could be modified to display output into a QWS window?

True. Who am I to challenge the decisions of others? I understand that, but I just can't bare to see duplication of effort in community projects, it's such a waste of such talented people.
