The last thing I heard (couldn't dig it up, though) was that OM is never  
going to support SIM toolkit because STK is often used by cell operators  
to take control of the phone, cripple its features etc, which is contrary  
to the “Free your phone” spirit of OpenMoko.

We can see that not everything that's implemented using STK is evil; in  
fact, I've seen a lot of useful menus implemented that way. However, if  
STK is ever to be implemented in OM, there should obviously be security  
restrictions as to what the STK application is allowed to do to the phone,  
probably with security prompts (similar to those given by the phones for  
J2ME applications) and stored security policies.
