A soldering iron makes a nice neat hole and a little nasty toxic smoke.
A drill sheds little bits of plastic that are static charged so they
are sticky and migrate to inconvenient places.

Also I always have a soldering iron near my right hand and the drill
is off somewhere in  a drawer.
