MicroSD card does not fit in Freerunner

which part is responsible for that?
i did almost immediately after receiving (weekend 5./6. july)

opkg update && opkg upgrade

and the lifetime was about 7h at most with mostly blank&locked screen.

are there kernels (i expect the pm is entirely in kernel land) which  
better values?
