well, i got my freerunner and usb ethernet last week, finally figured
out usb-host tonight, and can report that the ethernet device works
perfectly

no config, i plugged it in, and it all worked

i also got a usb kb, so no more onscreen kb for terminal work -
thoroughly recommended
