Well, you aren't the only one who feels so :-) But since Illume seems
static, this is a nice working proof of concept - that could eventually be
swallowed by Illume.
But who is going to do that? Raster is busy with a lot more than just
Illume and I don't know of anyone else working on Illume. Plus, what is the
scope of Illume per se? I'm not clear about that either.
A lot of people have also said that this was a much wanted feature. Well,
I got on to do what I could after waiting for some time - and hopefully some
good will come out of it. Even if we can reach a state where Illume has a
clear path to follow to provide what people want - launcher would have
served its purpose. And - for the time being - its doing something that
every other phone provides OOTB.

The app is not specific to any one distribution. It scans the
/usr/share/applications directory to populate the icons. When you run it for
the first time, you need to go to the settings and set application
categories. Applications set to category home show up in the home page.
You can also set the applications to be launched on clicking the missed
calls / sms notifications.

The reason the icons are not transparent has much to do with my limited
knowledge of elementary. I couldn't get the icons to size up. So I used the
photo widget that has a white box as its background.

Can anyone tell me how to size elm_icon widgets?
Thanks.
