The folder could be /home/root/Applications/qtopiamail/

You can try running strace to see what's the real problem:

ssh root at 192.168.0.202
apt-get install strace
. /opt/qtmoko/qpe.env
strace qpe

Maybe use -f param to log the strace to file.
