Subject: Re: Patent?<br>
<br>
One patent that Apple may be referring to is described here:<br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/apple_files_patent_for_wireless_ipod_with_ringtones_micro_browser" target="_blank" onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)">http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/apple_files_patent_for_wireless_ipod_with_ringtones_micro_browser
</a><br>
<br>
<br>
But the article doesn't say whether it was granted or still in the<br>
application process.<br>
<br>
And then there's this one:<br>
<br>
<a href="http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PG01&s1=20060268528.PGNR.&OS=DN/20060268528RS=DN/20060268528" target="_blank" onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)">

As I understand it, even if the patent hasn't been granted, it's still in force. One of our screwy USPTO loopholes says they can put "patent pending" on whatever it is, then screw around with the patent office... you can double or triple the time your patent is effective if you've got lawyers who are good at stalling
