for battery status there is a good python script (there is also a C
file available) on: http://tehinterweb.com/freerunner/batmon/

WIFI: we have lintwifi and mofi and wifi-radar (mofi works best for me)

I also think it would be nice to have:
* volume controller (for when using for example mp3 playback through
the speakers)
*GSM status (there is already a nice program for this, but it is GTA01
only, I would really like to see this on GTA02:
