oFono, a FSO Clone from Intel and Nokia

OK, good point.
I guess what frustrates a lot of people (myself including) is that we don't
have spare human power to work on both projects (at the moment).
I'm interested in FSO, so knowing that potential developers looking to work
on some open source phone stack might go to work on ofone project is not
warming. Same goes for funding part as well.

I guess when gnome and kde just started it's developing a lot of people felt
like the effort should be combined not divided. But look where are we now :)
So in the long term it's a good thing.
