turn ringer off for a specified time

I would suggest that at the end of the prescribed quiet period the phone
vibrates or makes a discrete tone to indicate the quiet period is over, a
splash screen confirmation dialog is presented with OK & Extend options.  If
no input after 30 seconds the application assume the user is not in a
meeting/class and the device returns to normal operation.
