btw, i just noticed... the iphone does implement a double tap. in safari and

one reason double-tap is rightly avoided on a touchscreen is it's imprecise.
Selecting text is interesting but still problematic unless the font is big.

I'll bet apple pulls it off here because it's a double tap in a big region
so the two taps don't need to land in the same place.
