Somebody in the thread at some point said:

I can boot from SD into a shell in < 5 seconds from starting Linux, how
is removing it gaining us 6 seconds? MCI probing and so on is
asynchronous to the boot action and does not stall it.
Anyway this isn't happening I am told, so no worries.
