We will probably have a framework coming soon (nothing in concrete) for
doing more voIP integration, of course, most of this will be backend and
seemless and abstracted from the users point of view.

I am currently working with iaxclient, but as soon as you get something
to hook into dbus, you could use whatever you want (eg jabber).

I highly suggest looking into that code (including python bindings)

I think that overall, you are moving in the right direction, however.

Because voIP and gsm stack awareness and integration just seems natural :)
