there's some whitespace / coding style problem with the
sleep_to_normal_qvga() function, please fix this

Yes, this has worked quite fine in the past.  Also, the suspend/resume
code path uses the state transitions...

mh. if JTAG register setting gives better results, then it seems like
the mode switching code in s3c2410fb might have problems..
