I'm not sure what your point is.  I know all about the merge window: I am one
of the people with a git tree that Linus pulls from.  And in fact the message
you pointed at supported what I said: patches should be sent upstream as
soon as possible, especially when they are trivial fixes for build breakage that
was introduced earlier in the release cycle (as some of these patches are).
