It's not crazy to put GPIO to CPU... just we need to take care about it.
~ What you actually proposed about PMU type events would indeed have to
go in GPIO is there is no PMU to handle it and no MSP430 either.  But
PMU handles most of it in our case, if the PMU we use is anything like
the pcf50633.

Right it is enough if we just light an LED about charging indication,
saving the current from backlight for charging.
