I'm well aware of the spec, but it came way too late to affect
gta01/gta02 development.  It puts actually quite complex charger
detection onto the device, and I think it's unlikely that it will see
much adoption until the SoC or OTG chipset vendors include all the
required analog and digital logic into their integrated circuits.

The charger side is easy to implement.  But of what use is it for the
charger to be compliant, if the phone cannot handle a compliant charger
?!?
