A temporary workaround has been committed to the OM svn repo and is in recent
versions (certainly 4102 and beyond, but probably much earlier).  For the
moment, this problem can be marked as resolved (the workaround may not be
acceptable to upstream, but the workaround can remain until replaced by an
alternate solution).
