dfu-util and dfu-util_static wrt Debian?

Hi,

I've done a Debian package for dfu-util and uploaded it, but it was
rejected as it contained the dfu-util_static binary (in addition to
dfu-util, the dynamically linked one).

Is there some reason to ship the static version in Debian (or is there
any reason to have the build system build/install that one at all)?
Otherwise I'm going to re-upload the package without the statically
linked binary, and the package should appear in Debian unstable in
a few days or so.
