Right, but as the thread title says, it is more about deprecating the
"write-only" aspect which creates a lot of needless havoc and fear come
production time.

Because we can always "reset to factory" all the storage around the CPU
using JTAG, "write-once" as a concept or excessive "protection" is not
needed.
