Yes Qi tries to find a kernel on SD Card, if that doesn't work out it
falls back to boot from NAND.  So indeed Qi booted you into NAND OK from
the sound of it.  If you do the ext3 thing you should be OK from SD Card
as well.

Just use that one with DFU if you want to return to U-Boot.
