I guess it's not to do with us directly, Qi does not set rootfstype= and
lets the kernel select which ext2 / 3 / 4 flavour to use.
You can force it to choose one or another flavour of ext<n> by
rootfstype=ext2 for example in /boot/append-GTA02 -- try that as a
workaround.
