Thanks for the in-progress patch, I'm glad if anyone is looking at it.

One piece of advice is that there is a full implementation of the Linux
bitbang for SPI by Harald in the case of jbt6k74 and Glamo, this can
maybe be a helpful template for what it should look like.

I agree it is pretty complicated which is why I just blew through it.
But it'll be great if the working implementation I did can be threaded
through the existing bitbang framework and set upstream.
