I don't get to the sshd on my rootfs (some random FSO thing I think)
either due to that connect() spew. It's quite possible it's the same
problem.
Maybe you can depopulate runlevel 5's symlinks in /etc/rc5.d or whatever
it is so sshd is easier to get to.
