splash screen support (ready for deployment)

The latest version of splash screen support is in SVN,
trunk/src/host/splash/

This uses a gzip'ed raw screen dump. This seems to be both the fastest
and the prettiest solution. It's nice when the two converge :-)

The u-boot patches still enable BMP support, even though we don't use
it. I left it in, since it works now and someone may find it useful.
If we decide to take it out, we can also drop the heap increase in
raise-limits.patch

I think I still need to tweak the screen initialization sequence to
avoid/reduce the bright white flash, but that should be easy.

Wikification of the splash screen instructions is still pending. I'd
like to use DFU for this, so that's for a bit later.
