We're using "a recent version" from GIT. In general, we update to
the respective head whenever we feel foolish or confident enough
that we can handle a few unexpected build problems :-)

We use quilt to manage our patches. There are also some smaller
patches from me between Harald's (also in SVN), so you may need
some of these too.
