GNOME on Debian/Freerunner

gdm is murderous! if you don't use gnome it has such a load of  
dependencies at it's heels.
i manipulated /etc/init.d/xdm to start xfce instead. it's not that nice  
but at least i can switch runlevels to restart X (since a while ago debian  
got that ... habit to start X both in 2 _and_ 3, how sensible that might  
ever be, and the frist tjhing i did was removing X, zhone, frameworkd from  
2 and switching default level to 3).
thus, auotlogin kind of works.

does matchbox-...-toggle toggle xvkbd, too?
