gsm firmware flashing not working

I just bought my Neo Freerunner and have a ATT 3g sim card 71234G which is
not working 

came with qtopia on it but flashed it with OM 2008.9

tried following the GSM/Flash guide and putting the FSO console image on 
though that likes to kernel panic 

tried various options with fluid using no flow control,-oo and trying
different baud rate. 

appreciate some help
