Does it make sense to have the kernel use a swap partition?

I needed to do this on my Nokia 770. Without the additional memory the 
system was terribly slow and unstable.
Allowing linux to swap things improved the usability very much. But 
probably hurt the SD.

The thig with swap is that linux can store away unused pages. I could 
imagine this would also be positive here.
As long as the system only pages things out that are (currently) really 
unused...

Bottom line. Worked well, but was probably a awful hack. Don't know.
