[FDOM] GPRS has stopped working - ServiceUnknown (latest fdom)

That was not the problem but the lack of gsm0710muxd altogether, and I
was originally wondering why it was left out from the newest FDOM. But
I'd guess it's because FDOM was now made in the right way for the
first time (a script to run on top of pure 2008.9), and not everything
has been implemented.

However, I installed gsm0710muxd from angstrom repositories now, and
have both GSM working via it (qpe/qtopia) and GPRS configure to use
it. But for some reason I cannot actually establish the GPRS
connection:

It stays fine at the "Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/2" line, but ppp0
interface is not gotten up and then the timeout comes.

What could cause the config-requests timeout? Phone calls continue to
work after fiddling with the GPRS.
