i installed paroli after the problems surfaced - i was mistakenly
under the impression that paroli provided an application launcher and
would be an alternative to illume. but it doesn't and isn't

hmm, how bizzare
i carried out angus' suggestions, and when the x srver re-started, i
was told there were no menu entries, and then was given an opportunity
to create some
now i'm being told
"there was an error loading module named conman/linux-gneueabi-arm/module.so:
would you like to unload this?"
and still no icons on the desktop
