 current requirement is more than what usb can provide and the rest is
 pulled in from the battery. So the total current pulled by the system is
 531 mA ?? Or somehow < 500 mA flowing in from the USB ?

 It's a good question, what is the USB current limit at this time, possibly
 only 100mA?
