Wiki events--listing the top 5 items

FYI:

I have a question posted on MediaWiki help site to find if there's an
extension that will allow a list of items to be kept on page A (a complete
listing of events, for example), allow that list to be added to and changed
chronologically, but have only the top X number of entries display on page
B.

I don't remember who was asking for this, but it sounded helpful, so I went
looking for it.
