As a strictly Mac-user of many years, with relatively recent  
knowledge of the history of Free Software, I can see the benefit in  
using the term GNU. I would have learnt much earlier on in the piece  
about the ideas behind Free Software and why it's needed if more  
organisations had credited GNU over the years.

And the more people who are aware of Free Software (as opposed to  
simply open source software) and its significance, the more likely  
Free Software will prevail and people will continue to benefit from it.
