Ummm...

Why go to the trouble of making pre-prod prototypes and photographing the
internals? 
Why so spare on the number of screen mock-ups for all to drool over?
Why direct all the press to date at the FOSS developer community, instead
of the target mass market?  

Sorry, but this "vapourware" marketing research plan that you have so
cleverly unmasked is not looking very much like competent, ore even
experimental market research to me.
