2007.2 media player

The media player doesn't really understand file formats.  Instead, 
gstreamer handles the actual playback, so you'll probably need to 
install one of the gst-plugin-* packages.

What error message does it give on the command line?  Does the log 
conclude a plausible looking mime type?
