Try leaving the battery out over night then reinserting it and charging it. I've got a neo1973 on its original battery so yours should still work You can get a very cheap battery and charger from ebay, I provided a link in a previous post http://www.mail-archive.com/community@lists.openmoko.org/msg28392.html
