First, click on Actions --> Settings

your JID/Ressource would be

    dscaini at gmail.com/Freerunner
You can replace Freerunner with whatever you like. Just make sure that, if
you have multiple devices to login to your account, they need a different
ressource.

your Password next, don't know this one ;)

The options should work, I haven't tried gmail yet.

Next, hit save and close

At last, click on status and online.

I saw "..." where status used to be and after a few seconds, it connected.
