How to add new programs in the applications menu?

Hi,

I have compiled some wxWidgets programs (e.g., wxBasic interpreter) and have
successfully run them via the command/terminal shell. Now, I want to add
them to (matchbox?) applications menu. What files do I need to edit/add
manually in the system?
