oops - i meant XDG - type (freedesktop.org). the notification module defines
how it looks - its fairly small and simple actually... but its not hard to
implement.

yes. i need to split illume up. too much in 1 spot. the vkbd infra is good. the
built-in kbd is decent - dict is a bit lacking. the top bar (slipshelf) is ok.
launcher is ugly. layout management is ok. this should get split into multiple
modules, not all in 1 - so to answer the above. this needs doing. launcher i
just dont much like - it was a 2hr effort on an afternoon to provide a more
usable alternative to the slider mode which is what om originally designed and
wanted (and was implemented - but of course has usability issues).

the first step is to add the general paradigm of being able to split the screen
up into e itself - so illume can provide the policy - and e manage a central
place to advertise such splitting and how to hook into it. this then allows for
kbd and layout and splishelf to be split - launcher too. launcher then should
probably be replaced with more of a "quick launch" set of icons for your 4 or 5
fave apps - then a bigger "app browser" for the rest. get you back a desktop
thats clean - so you can add clock and other gadgets to it (a today gadget etc.
too).
