Any USB device can have multiple configurations. You can choose a
particular configuration to operate the device in. Each configuration
can support multiple interfaces (mass-storage, modem, ethernet,
etc.). You can choose the interface you want to communicate with. So,
there is nothing "dangerous" in it.
