gps module in gta02 (freerunner)

so far i have 2 openmoko gta02 (freerunner) in my hands. seem to work
great with my own jamvm java environment. but one thing really s...

THE GPS!!!

It needs at least 2 minutes to get a fix if ever!! Even under perfect
conditions i cant be sure to get a fix.
And when i get a fixation, it runs around like a crazy dog.

So what am i doing:

# echo "1" > /sys/devices/platform/s3c2440-i2c/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0073/neo1973-pm-gps.0/pwron

# cat /dev/ttySAC1 | grep RMC

Now i get a firework of NMEA messages. Most of them are TXT messages
of this type:

$GPTXT,01,01,01,NMEA unknown msg*58

I know that this is a known issue. but should this message stop after some time?

Has anyone any ideas how to get faster and better gps results?
