Highly likely ;-) At one point in time, Openmoko considered using
the USI WM-BG-MR-03, which integrates BT as well. Here's a size
comparison with GTA02 WLAN and BT:

The main reason for keeping the AR6001 in gta02-core is again that
it's free and we know that it works in the SPI configuration. But a
replacement daughterboard with the new chip could be made relatively
quickly.
