I'd try to stay away from footprints with vendor-specific renumbering,
particularly if this numbering wouldn't correspond to the vendor's own
numbering. It's still relatively easy to spot such anomalies in the
schematics. But in the layout, the wrong footprint (e.g., FOO_5
instead VENDOR_CHIP_FOO5) has a pretty good chance of escaping review.

Anyway, I think we're good for now. I haven't looked at all the
footprints yet, so let's hope the vendors kept engineers prone to
getting creative in this particular area in the booby hatch ;-)
