Re: Double-tap debate

Rather than consider double-tap to be an entity unto itself--which requires
the single-tap to be sluggish so the wait time for double can be
included--consider that a second tap is like the first tap, only more so.

Using the example of word selection:

First tap places cursor at specific location.
Second tap within the allowed quanta of time and location expands the
selection to a word.
Third tap expands selection to the line
Additional taps could select paragraph or document, and/or cycle back to 1st
tap.

Zoom is similar. Single tap selects map feature or waypoint. Second tap
zooms in.

Re: tap-hold
Windows Mobile uses tap-hold to bring up a context menu. They also show a
visible tap-hold timer... a circle of dots around the touchpoint. When the
circle completes, the context menu appears.
